Spring, Shamrocks, and Fun in K1!

Welcome March!

We are so excited for a month full of Spring, shamrocks, learning, and fun!

Literacy- This month, we are looking forward to celebrating March with poems, songs, and books about the weather and Spring. For Read Across America Week, we are really enjoying reading a lot of Dr. Seuss books! We will be working on writing our letters and practicing our sounds daily. We will also continue to work on our vowel sounds. Our comprehension and listening skills will improve through our Story Labs where we will listen to great books such as There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover and How to Catch a Leprechaun.

In Writing, we are looking forward to our Play Plans. This month, we will be working on identifying the beginning, middle, and ending sound(s) of our words. We will practice listening to the sounds and breaking apart the words. We will be using our bodies to help us kinesthetically sound out each work we would like to use in our message. We have been working hard and doing a fantastic job!

Mathematics– This month, we will continue our Numbers and Counting Unit. We are practicing our counting by making groups and matching. We love working with numbers and manipulatives in our Math Stations! We really enjoy saying our number rhymes to learn our number formations. We will learn fun games to help us like The Cave, Spill the Beans, Peek Through the Wall, and One Fish, Two Fish. We are doing a great job counting and practicing our number games!

Science/Social Studies– This month, we are learning about the Pet Vet. We will transform our centers to be the vet office, the pet store, the grooming area, the obedience school, and the Humane Society. We will learn all about different animals and what a vet does. We are excited to develop our new centers and scenarios! We will also be exploring different types of weather this month and are very eager to welcome in Spring!
