Can you believe it’s already June and our final few weeks of school?! This school year seemed to fly by. Our preschool students are a few inches taller and many months wiser. They worked so hard this school year and accomplished so much. I am so very proud of them!
For the month of June, our Tools of the Mind theme is restaurant! We are working hard to transform our centers into our favorite restaurants – Polar Cub, a pizza shop, a taco stand, a drive thru, and a diner.
These last few months of school, we’re focusing on reviewing all of the letters of the alphabet we have already been introduced to. We are going to play some super fun alphabet games and sing lots of alphabet songs. We will also be reviewing many of the shapes we have learned in graphics practice this year. We are getting so good at holding our markers with a three finger grip!
This month in math, we will be reviewing all of the concepts we have learned about this year – sorting, patterning, graphing, and measuring. We will also be working on our counting skills, number writing, and numeral recognition. We will have a few more estimation jars this year as well, where we predict the number of objects in the jar and then count them together. We have gotten so good at estimating!
Science and Social Studies
This month we will be learning all about growing plants and flowers. We will begin with the life cycle of a plant and also learn about the two most important things a plant needs to grow – sun and water. We will also help take care of our school garden by weeding and watering.
All students will take part in weekly specials that include acting, music, Tumbles, and art.
